i keep consistently losing on the Japanese Derby with mutiple Umas- help

i instaled the game yesterday and have tried 4 or 5 carrers at this point, and in every single one of them i have lost to the god damn derby, my ONE Uma that got over the Derby was Winning Ticket, and she proceeded to lose in the next race cuz i was given like- 1 turn to prepare and she was at low energy

i know its a gacha game, but im trying to keep the gambeling at a resonable rate, i tent to prioritize speed + stamina with a bit of power so by the time i reach the derby those three are at E while guts and wit are at F+ at best, i tend to use the recomended cards since idk what im doing yet

any and all advice would be great- please help- i would like to finish at least one Uma's carrer
