VR&E Final Term – Only 16 CU Left, Will My BAH Be Cut?

Hey everyone, I’m in my last term at WGU under Chapter 31 VR&E. I only need 16 competency units (CU) to graduate. WGU considers 12 CU or more full-time, so academically I’m still full-time.

Here’s the problem: WGU told me VA usually requires 18 CU or more to certify as full-time, and VA Ed said my subsistence allowance might be prorated (90% instead of 100%) if I don’t hit 18.

I’ve heard there might be a “final term exception” or counselor discretion that still allows you to be treated as full-time if you’re in your last required term.

👉 Has anyone here gone through this with VR&E? Were you able to keep your full subsistence allowance in your final term with fewer than 18 credits? How did your counselor handle it?

Thanks in advance trying to figure this out before it blows up our budget.
