I don’t know how I’m asymptomatic
Hey there, I’m currently 29 weeks and admitted to the hospital. I’m not in need of advice and I’m not really worried yet either for some reason. I had pree with my first and had him at 33 wks 5 days. He’s 2 now and is absolutely perfect. What I wanted to talk about was more of an are my doctors and nurses being serious when they say my case is very different and unique from what they usually see.
So typically to get diagnosed with preeclampsia you need two factors associated with it. So like high bp and moderate protein levels in your urine. I came in with no previous signs of pree this pregnancy, matter-a-fact I wasn’t even worried about it because this pregnancy is so dramatically better than my first one. I haven’t been sick or anything. Well they saw my bp was pretty up there and took a urine sample… here’s where the “freak show” comes in. I had 5558mg of protein in my urine. For reference, a pree diagnosis is given at 300mg. Which 300mg is already scary high, BUT 5558mg?!?! What makes this even crazier? I don’t feel bad at all. My bp has stayed pretty consistent and not elevated, and I only have the occasional headache. I’m a walking circus act. When the next shift comes in they all bring it up like “I’ve heard a lot about you!” I’m genuinely just kind of in shock.
But yeah… my husband is a long haul trucker and due to financial hardship he can’t come home until we know for sure baby is on the way. I thought my old friend reddit could entertain me while I sit and ponder how my poor kidneys are doing.
