Tonsillectomy Alternative

Hey all,

Have a toddler that has very enlarged tonsils causing mouth breathing.

THis have been going o for almost a year and they have not shrunk.

Her ENT said they can try liquid prednisone to try and shrink them before a surgery option.

I was curious if any one has had steroid direct injection into the tonsil to reduce side?

To me , this seems like a targeted approach that may have a greater impact on shrinkage rather that an oral approach affecting whole body with possible hormonal mood swings.

I have seen articles that state direct injection into the tonsil area to reduce swelling is used after Tonsillectomy....

My question is why not try direct injection into the tonsils to dramatically reduce the size and possibly prevent surgery in the first place??
