How to restart breastfeeding after stopping? Baby refuses the breast
Hi everyone, I gave birth a little over a month ago. During the first week I breastfed, but then I had to stop because I was on medication (antihypertensives and antibiotics for an infection) and spent some time in the hospital.
Now I’m no longer on those medications and I’d really love to restart breastfeeding (relactation). The issue is, every time I try to put my baby to the breast, she cries and refuses, no matter if she’s full from formula or a bit hungry, awake or sleepy. I’ve tried different positions and times, but she still won’t latch.
I do notice that I still have some milk—it comes in drops.
Has anyone been through this? Is there any way to encourage my baby to accept the breast again, or should I focus more on pumping? Any advice would be appreciated.
