Does this carpet fit?

The carpet is beige, I would personally call it greige. Would a colourful carpet fit better or would it clash too much with the colourful pictures on the wall? OR would it be complimentary? Would really love some input :/ ignore that black stool, that will be thrown out. Also the ceiling lamp will be replaced.
