AITA? Dog sitting for needy relative / dog.
So out of the blue my cousin calls me and asks if I can watch their dog because they have to unexpectedly fly out of town for a few days for serious personal matter.. They asked me to dogsit from for about a week, I don't really like dogs, period, but felt inclined to help them out because of the situation.
After I reluctantly said yes, they proceed to tell me about the "catch" and all the rules I'd have to follow while dog sitting. Dog must sleep in bed with me, cannot be locked in kennel while I'm at work, dog needs constant attention/walks throughout the day.
I laughed at all these requests and said absolutely not! I understand the dog is on a routine but so am I! I just found it bold to request someone alter their schedule so drastically when they would be doing you a favor. And to be quite honest...I have never understood how someone's life can revolve around a dog, I understand loving and caring for a pet...but building your life around the "dogs schedule" ???
Had I ended up watching the dog it would have been cared for and treated well, just not on the schedule my relative hoped for. Now my relative is being distant and passive aggressive toward me. So AITA for setting a boundary?
