Oxford for the night?

My husband and I live in KY and are taking a mini road trip this weekend. We’d like to stop off in Mississippi as it’s one of the few states we’ve never visited. We will be bringing our two dogs. We are pretty low key but we enjoy a welcoming, fun scene with a bit of a buzz and culture (think out for a few drinks and a nice walk but back in the hotel by 9:00pm!).

I’m mostly looking at spots in north MS due to proximity. Oxford seems like the best spot to accomplish this - any other recommendations?
