Upgrading from one Ryzen to another, worth it?

Hello, I have an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 and I’m considering upgrading to a Ryzen 7 3600X as they both use the same AM4 slot in my motherboard. I was curious if this is would be worth it, I still don’t quite understand the Ryzen hierarchy. Thanks.
