Update: Built a Chrome extension for BCA auctions
Hey everyone,
A while back I posted about a tool I was building to help with BCA car auctions, and I got a really good response. Thanks for all the feedback! 🙌
It was originally something that worked locally on my friend's laptop. I’ve now turned it into a Google Chrome extension that works directly on the BCA site. It shows you:
- A suggested max bid (so you don’t overpay)
- Market demand → how many similar cars are listed and how long they’ve been sitting
- Average resale prices and demand in your area
Here’s a quick preview of what it looks like in action (I am still tweeking how it looks happy for feedback)
I’m planning to share early access with a few users this month to get more feedback before opening it wider. If you’re interested, check the comments.
Would love to hear your thoughts — anything you’d like to see added?
We are also planing to add a "cost" module that talks about how much would the fees + transportation would be based on price and location - to give you are true cost price (you can put your preferences in the settings to ensure it is correct).
We are also thinking of giving cost/prices of typical parts & panels, but unsure where to start.
About me: My brother and I are software engineers that developed this for a friend that runs a car trade shop in essex.
