Trader's Point Church Concerns

Hey everyone. I was just wondering if anyone has worked, attended, or been a part of the serving team at Trader's Point Church (any location) and if you felt like something was "off". I was invited to TPCC by a friend a few months ago and I have been attending for a while, but something about it just doesn't sit right with me. One of the members there has been VERY adamant that I join a small group and serving team and being someone who tends to be "too nice", I signed up for a team and filled out a lengthy application. I had to do a background check, give four references, and after some pretty normal questions like "have you ever been convicted of a crime" and "have you ever been arrested" was "have you ever been a victim of abuse"? A victim, not a perpetrator. The answer for me is "yes" and it made me feel very weird that they asked that. The serving agreement also involved tithing (giving money) to the church, which is not financially possible for me because I can barely make rent. I could be reading into things too much, but my gut tells me something isn't right.
