Advice for talking to partner about sexual stuff

Need advice

Hi yall! I've never posted here before, honestly, I don't really use reddit anymore at all nowadays. However, I'm currently in a relationship with someone who is asexual and am looking for some advice :)

I personally don't consider myself ace, but I am quite sex-repulsed and don't view it how most people do. I am fine with sexual acts if I'm close enough to someone, and enjoy them: sexual stuff feels nice and it's fun, and I like making my partner feel good as well. But sex is still absolutely disgusting to me. I have made the analogy of sexual stuff being like "playing in a mud puddle." Fun but... ew. And obviously I need to be A LOT closer with someone to consider doing anything sexual with them compared to just, y'know, playing in a mud puddle lol

Anyway, while I don't consider myself ace, it is very easy to see where my partner is coming from when they talk about their asexuality and sex-repulsion. It isn't something that they bring up often, but when they do, I get it! And going into our relationship together, I was, and am, fine dating somebody who is ace knowing that we may never have sex, because, well it's gross. And we both get WAY MOREEEE romantic affection from each other from things other than sex.

However, as I said, they and myself and don't talk about this that much. It is a gross topic for the both of us, and it has only been 6 months. However, they have recently been saying some things to me that have been a bit more sexual in nature. It has been kind of scary. I kind of want to know what their sexual wants are, and what activity/ies they do and don't want to take part in. I know penetrative sex is an absolute no-go for them, at the very least until marriage, if ever. But we both "get horny" and masturbate, and I was wondering if maybe the idea of masturbating together or mutual masturbation is something to bring up at some point?

I am asking for advice because I don't know if I should bring this up yet: it has only been 6 months, we both like taking things very slowly, and we haven't really had too many discussions about sexual stuff like this before. On top of this, while I can't assume for them, I know that I PERSONALLY wouldn't even be ready for anything like that YET. In the future, yeah sure. But I'm not there yet, so is it even worth it bringing it up? With some of the things they've said recently, and some of the other ways we've been progressing our relationship, and some slight talk about masturbation and finding certain things attractive, the idea of some sort of mutual masturbation popped into my head as a general boundary for each of us; is that something we'd be into? Currently it's more of a curiosity I suppose, so I don't know if it's worth bringing up. But then again, part of me feels like it's good to know these wants and boundaries early. It's all gross to me, so I'm fine with never doing anything sexual together. But the communication could still be nice to just have some things laid out flat I suppose? But again, what if it's just too early?

Also, if it's not too early and there is some validity in bringing it up, how should I go about doing that lol? It is a very serious conversation, but I don't want it to necessarily seem like a super daunting, heavy thing to talk about at the same time. I think there is a middle ground of talking about something serious, while both parties are listening, and still just kind of having the tone around the conversation be a chill, just, fun and thoughtful discussion.

Anyway, thanks for any advice guys!!! I'm not sure if this was the place to post this, let me know if there are better subreddits for something like this. Sorry if some of this came across as ramble-y or repetitive! Talking about this stuff is odd to me so I'm just trying to spew it out lol. Thanks!
