Paying Rent: Old-School Cash vs. Modern Online Platforms
Back in the day, paying rent meant handing over cash directly to the landlord or writing a cheque every month. It was simple and tangible—you saw the money leave your hand—but risky too. Receipts weren’t always provided, mistakes happened, and disputes could arise if either party forgot the details.
Fast forward to today, and there are multiple online platforms making rent payment smoother and safer. Apps like NoBroker RentPay, RentTrack, MagicBricks RentPay, Paytm, Google Pay, PhonePe, and even BHIM UPI allow tenants to pay rent digitally, often with automatic receipts and reward points. NoBroker RentPay stands out for official documentation and landlord verification, while Paytm and Google Pay are convenient for instant transfers. Some smaller platforms, however, can be glitchy or less trusted.
The convenience is undeniable—but some landlords still prefer cash or cheques for large amounts.
Is the old cash/cheque method more convenient, or are online rent platforms like NoBroker and Paytm the way forward?
