Lexapro helped diagnose me with BPD

New to Lex

I started lexapro about a month ago and had some horrible side effects the first week. Around week 2, I started feeling AMAZING; same with week 3, which is when I started to find my decreased need for sleep. This week, week 4, I found I needed no sleep, I felt incredible, everything seemed awesome! Except for not sleeping (I had a multitude of other manic symptoms going on as well but not sleeping was how I recognized the problem). When I went to therapy on Tuesday, she freaked out, realized I was actually manic, and asked about bipolar. I have NEVER had anyone mention bipolar to me ever! I also was not aware that if you are bipolar and take an SSRI, 9/10 times it will make you manic! I saw my psychiatrist yesterday and she made me immediately stop lexapro and got me on a mood stabilizer. I slept for 14 hours after I took it. This is your sign to watch out for SSRI-induced mania!!!
