Wheel’s rim deformed permanently, or can it be trued straight?

A minor crash resulted in this. Was able to open the rear brake and ride 10mi home on it like this. Before I bother trying to true it, I wanted to ask if anyone can just tell.  My gut is saying it’s a permanent bend, but figured I’d ask you all.  Not a big deal at all to me to buy either an entire new wheel, or replacement rim, but just want to ask the community out of pure curiosity.
