AITA for throwing out my friends vape?

So, for context, my friend(M15)is an addict who's actively trying to recover, but he keeps relapsing and buying drugs. I’ve tried taking him to rehab and trying different methods of quitting but nothing seems to stick. He's done all sorts of drugs and refuses to be honest with me because he knows I'm against it. I've been patient and supportive for a full year. He regularly does weed, and I've tried stopping him, but I truly cannot succeed at helping him.

Today, I was sitting with him, and he started vaping, and I didn't know he was doing that again. Instead of screaming or telling him to stop, I told him that I wanted to take a puff. I did and he kept talking about how good the nicotine high was. He does a lot of concerning things because he's never sober. I took the vape and threw it. I needed him to trust me enough to hand it to me but I genuinely could not sit around and wait for him to not vape again. I threw it and now he won't speak to me. AITA?
