I think Carey Mulligan was a great Daisy Buchanan
I’m not sure if this is considered an unpopular opinion, since almost every take I’ve seen on Carey’s portrayal of Daisy is negative, but I actually did like (loved actually) Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan. I think she absolutely nailed the “her voice is full of money” aspect of her character and that dreaminess Daisy has. I know a lot of people think Carey was miscast, or even bland but Daisy isn’t really meant to be this grand, fiery character. Daisy is more subtle, elusive, shallow and sometimes with a big lack of personality and I think Carey leaned into that intentionally. Daisy is also described as incredibly beautiful and, even though this might be more of personal taste, Carey looked absolutely stunning with everything, the wig, the clothes etc. When I think of the book I literally can’t picture anyone else as Daisy. It’s also quite funny because I absolutely hated Mia Farrow as Daisy (talk about butchering a character) which, apparently, seems to be the most liked portrayal of Daisy (?) Though, I was wondering if there’s more people that share my opinion or if I’m just tripping.
