This ring features a very large (approx 8 carat) Rose de France amethyst. Rose de France is a rare and desirable sub-type of amethyst. Unlike the traditional dark purple, Rose de France is a light pinkish purple which glows brilliantly in natural light. Although amethyst is a common semi-precious stone, vintage & antique pieces with this light pinkish-purple hue is hard to find.

The stone is set in 18k Rosé gold. There are multiple hallmarks including the owl hallmark which serves as both an import hallmark and a used jewelry hallmark; in this case, it is the later. The weight is 4.42 grams and currently the ring size is 8.75 U.S. It can be resized upon request.

Up for sale is a rare version of the A. Augis love charm. These charms make wonderful gifts not only because of the look, but also because of the sentiment. They also hold their value exceptionally well and can be re-sold very easily. For the uninitiated, I have put the context behind these charms below:

The writing is based on a poem by Rosemonde Gérard called “L’éternelle chanson” or the eternal song, in English. The line in the poem is “And as every day I love you more; greater than yesterday, less than tomorrow.” The writing on the charm is “(+) Qu’Hier (-) Que Demain” which translates to: greater than yesterday, less than tomorrow.

Most of these charms (90%+) were made in France in French. Some rare versions were made in other European languages including Italian. This one has a diameter of 1.6cm and weighs 2.36 grams. It is made of 18k as all of the authentic one's are. There is a natural diamond in the 'cross' and 3 baugette verneuil rubis in the 'minus' sign.

Antique (Victorian) 18k 2.8ct Cornflower Blue Ceylon Sapphire & Diamond Ring

This ring is a fantastic example of Victorian jewelry. It was likley made in the 1850’s probaby in France. There is a french owl hallmark, which serves as both an import hallmark and a ‘used’ jewelry mark; this stamp likley represents the latter. The center stone is a gorgeous cornflower blue (medium saturation) sapphire. There is no indication of heat treatment.

The sapphire measures 7 × 6.5 × 6.8, which makes it approximately 2.85-2.9cts. The stone is a geniune antique sapphire - the cut is very good, leaving no windows in the stone which is rare for colored stones. There is some slight wear on the table of the sapphire from age.The center stone is surrounded by 11 2.5mm little ‘rosette’ rose-cut diamonds. The diamonds are high quality for the time and have a nice sparkle. The ring is made of 18k rose gold and weighs 4.34 grams.
