I want new interesting friends. Where are these people?

So, of course, I possess a slight superiority complex—no big deal, I think—and it's making it quite hard to find new friends. I am a reader, but when I hang out with them, they come across as lame nerds. At the gym, which is another thing I do, people are a bunch of brainless meatheads. Motorcycle people? Damn, I don't fw them. Maybe someone who has been enlightened in this area of relationships and acquaintances in life can help me out by giving me advice on how and where to meet interesting people.
