Hey hey ! I saw a post here discussing about OCs and I pretty much got into yapping,, so I want to share an OC of mine as a post ! The art are all mine as a beginner artist :) I also have a fanfiction about how I plan to integrate him into the canon storyline. It's "more than just a shadow" on AO3 under the same username ! Anyways, here goes 🙏

He goes by Yoshi as his nickname ! He's way calmer than Tobio and knows how to actually smile lol xD He's similar to Narita in that sense. He's a wing spiker and an opposite hitter who wears #13 on his jersey. He's very similar to Daichi in terms of his role in the game :) He's a well-rounded player as displayed in his parameters, and has the same jump serve as Tobio. But he prefers to basically hang in the back, watch everyone else and keep his eyes peeled to dig the ball. He likes doing receives a lot and, just like Tobio, he clings to the belief that you can't do flashy plays without mastering the fundamentals first.

The twins have always played together since they were kids, so he's a witness to basically everything that happened to his brother. He knows that Tobio used to be very enthusiastic about volleyball to the point of naivety, and that he started to change into the "egocentric king" a bit after their grandfather died. I like to think it was Tobio's coping mechanism since volleyball is LITERALLY their family's love language. Losing it felt like losing his family (his parents are absent in my version though). In my AU, Tobio feels like he'll disappoint not only his grandfather, but also his brother if he loses a game.

The comparison between them started very early because we all know how it's usually unavoidable between siblings and especially twins. Kazuyo always taught them that they're equally important as a part of a team though, so they weren't that bothered by it at first. But it became more prevalent when Tobio started excelling so much as a setter, and even more so when he started changing into this grumpy kid.

Since Tobio was more reactive than he was (always angry, yells and "throws tantrums"), Yoshi basically had to hold himself together and stay calm all the time to balance out his younger brother. This made people say that Yoshi is the "good twin". Not "better", just "good", because he doesn't yell and he doesn't have attitude problems. He's also academically smart, unlike Tobio. But on the other side of the same coin, people always say that Yoshi would never beat Tobio in terms of volleyball skills. So yeah,, very complicated

The turning point was that whole crashout in middle school. When Tobio was benched, the coach basically rubbed salt to the wound and subbed in Yoshi as a setter 💔 They both blamed themselves for their team's loss and they have this whole argument about it. They eventually settle and they will always be close, but something about Yoshi changed ever since middle school too.

He started writing and taking notes in this maroon notebook he always has about EVERYTHING volleyball. Not just strategies and stuff, but details and quirks about the players they play with and against. It's this whole thing that he observes everyone and takes down whatever he thinks he and the team needs in games, and also to find ways to navigate each other (who works best with who, who pisses off who, etc). In Karasuno, it gives Yoshi a sense of control, so he could avoid team conflicts as much as possible and not have a repeat of the middle school incident ☹️

Speaking of Karasuno, he didn't plan to join the team at first. His reason for this was that being in the same court as Tobio was probably holding his brother back. Only Yoshi was ever really able to keep up with him during plays, and in order for Tobio to learn how to work with other people, he has to stop leaning on Yoshi first. But when he realized that Hinata is also in Karasuno and he's able to keep up with his brother just fine, his worries lessen and he eventually joins the team, during the time before their practice match against Seijoh. He is very grateful to Hinata for this 🙏🙏

Yoshi is Tobio's first critic but also his first defender. He also has major crippling inferiority complex to the point that he doesn't aim to be a part of the starting lineup 😭 He is genuinely content with subbing in and pinch serving only when necessary. Everyone is either intrigued or bothered by it. Sometimes he even throws people off because of his "weird" tendencies.

Anyway,,, that's all I can remember for now ! Feel free to discuss about him or your OCs !! I would love to get some feedback or comments about my son 🙂‍↕️
