[Need Help] Insider Trade Analysis- Need Help in Refining The Logic

Been working on an insider trading analysis project — basically clustering trades to see stronger buy/sell patterns. I’m not sure if my metrics are the best, so I’d love feedback from this community.

Here’s what I did step by step:

  1. Load & Clean the Data

o Pulled insider transaction records from NSE website. o Standardized numeric fields (like stake % and transaction value) and converted dates into proper datetime.

  1. Market Data Enrichment

o For each symbol, I pulled Yahoo Finance data (market cap, 52-week highs/lows, turnover). o Added ratios like Trade-to-MarketCap % and Trade-to-Turnover Ratio to measure trade significance.

  1. Filter Significant Trades

o Kept only trades that were ≥ 0.1% of market cap OR ≥ 10% of daily turnover. o Only included important categories (Promoter, Director, etc.) and meaningful modes (Market Purchase, Market Sale). o Applied a signal weighting system to emphasize stronger trades (e.g., market purchases = +1, market sales = –1).

  1. Aggregate Daily Transactions

o Combined multiple trades by the same insider on the same day into one record. o Recalculated stake changes, turnover ratios, and values after aggregation.

  1. Clustering

I built two types of clusters using a 90-day rolling window: o Company Clusters → For each stock, I rolled up: § Total value, net value, and weighted net value of trades § Average ratios vs turnover/market cap § Unique insider count o Insider Clusters → For each insider + company pair: § Summed their trade values & stake changes

Highlights from the Results (Analysis from 22-Sept to 27-Sept 2025)

After clustering insider transactions over the chosen window here are some notable patterns from the data:

🔹 Large transactions • AKZOINDIA (Imperial Chemical Industries Limited) → Big sale of ~₹7,648 Cr worth of shares, reducing stake from ~50% to 45%. • VIPIND → Multiple large trades on the same day. Piramal group reduced stake, while private equity funds (Multiples PE & others) bought in. • PARADEEP (Zuari Maroc Phosphates Pvt Ltd) → A single large buy of ~₹1,823 Cr, stake moving from ~55.9% to 57.2%.

🔹 Mid-size concentrated buying • PAISALO (Equilibrated Venture CFLOW Pvt Ltd) → Sequential buying across two days, adding ~₹330 Cr in total, increasing stake to ~20%. • COFFEEDAY → AHIH Resorts & Retreat Pvt Ltd bought ~₹392 Cr worth of shares. • PITTIENG (Employee Welfare Trust) → Steady accumulation over multiple trades.

🔹 Employee welfare trusts active • CEATLTD Employees Welfare Trust bought ~₹69 Cr. • DBO Employee Welfare Trust and Sangam (India) Employee Welfare Trust also showed meaningful activity.

🔹 Repeated selling patterns • ESCONET insiders (Santosh Kumar Agrawal, Pooja Gupta) executed multiple sales in quick succession. • SANGINITA promoters/insiders sold in multiple tranches across different days. • SUNREST family members (Thakkar group) all participated in stake reduction.

🔹 Individual significant transactions • AAATECH (Anjay Agarwal) → Sale of ~₹45 Cr, stake falling from ~19.7% to 15.2%. • MANGLMCEM (Vidula Consultancy Services Ltd) → Steady incremental buying across days. • OBCL (Ravi Agrawal) → Multiple smaller buys maintaining ~44% stake.

Help me if I missed anything.

{{{{ I’m planning to keep running this analysis on a daily basis and share the insider cluster highlights. If you like the idea, please DM me — would love to know if this kind of data is useful. }}}}
