Tips and warnings for 4-2 system?
My new team plays 4-2, while I’m used to 6-2 or 5-1. What are some things unique to 4-2 that are worth exploiting or avoiding?
For example, is the center of the court more vulnerable, or the back corners? If our setters aren’t strong at blocking, but we have tall (very tall) middle blockers, how do we cover the court when their outside hitter attacks? I have so many questions, but my team is more focused on actual play than tactics. Which is fine, except they can’t tell me things they don’t know either.
I don’t know what system other teams in this league are likely to play. When I played 6-2 we knew that our weaknesses/strengths were likely mirrored on the other side, and could exploit that during serving. Is 4-2 a system that other teams can peg as “This will be an easy win if we target XYZ”?
Games come down to skill and teamwork and drive, but it would be nice to have some extra strategy too…
Thanks in advance!
