Geographic similarities between Alaska and Patagonia?

Has anyone visited both places? I think I’m thinking of Alaskan panhandle and Tierra del Fuego. How do they compare in terms of climate, vegetation, population, and industry?

I’m thinking of visiting both (same trip). Maybe Fairbanks and or Juneau to Punta Arenas, Chile.
