Why is it easier to comfort others than to comfort yourself?
I’ve noticed that when friends tell me they’re struggling, I always know what to say. I can be calm, supportive, and encouraging. But when it’s my own mind spiraling, I can’t apply any of that to myself.
It feels like there’s a huge gap between knowing the right words and actually believing them when it comes to me. Why do you think we’re so much kinder and more forgiving to others than we are to ourselves?
