Status of PG leadership, October 2025

Greg Newby, CEO of PGLAF and driving force behind Project Gutenberg since 1991, has been diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic cancer.

For over 30 years, Greg has guided PG, supported volunteers, and helped launch Distributed Proofreaders, now PG’s main source of new eBooks. Since Michael Hart’s passing in 2011, Greg has kept the project thriving.

Friends, family, and the PG community send him strength, prayers, and gratitude for his lasting contributions.

An interim director has been appointed to handle daily operations for PGLAF and Project Gutenberg.
