Such ideas were viewed as rational positions before WW2, there were many scientific societies researching such subjects of race and ethnicity,

but the idea was blamed for WW2 and its attrocities so such opinions and research became stigmatized,

we saw many attempts to replace all elements with such tendencies however grounded in research with social justice in the 1960s until 2016,

but societal safety nets have seen a major set back in 2008 when the existance of the whole interconected western economy was called into question

the European migrant crisis of 2014 strained already weak social safety nets even further

on top of all that the population is rapidly ageing across the west which threatens pension systems

The traditional social safety nets aren't sustainable which means fear of poverty, and I am almost certain that most nations will begin justifying oppressive hierarchies with genetic determinism on their minorities to secure resource abundance for the ethnic majority, minorities also make for great scapegoats

We are already seeing an increase in defence spending, not just military, ICE and Frontex, the 2030 will probably be a dacade remembered by a mass birth of ethnocracies.

also a good example from the past would be Yugoslavia. During his reign, Tito levaraged Yugoslavia's neutrality for loans from the IMF and Soviet union,

he spent this money on new industrial capacities and massive public housing campaigns, he achieved in securing abundance for the average citizen

but those projects weren't profitable and cost a lot to maintain

When he died the lenders wanted debts repaid, but the Yugoslav government didn't have much money

and those projects cost a lot to maintain,

So the central authority in Belgrade started cutting salaries and increasing production quotas,

they also printed a lot of money,

An average Yugoslav citizen with his decreasing purchasing power saw only longer work days and empty stores,

So Slovenia and Croatia, the most developed republics started blaming Belgrade and the poorer republics for leeching off of "good Slovenian and Croatian workers",

So Slovenia declared independance in 1991 shortly followed by Croatia which expelled most of its Serbian minority,

Then Bosnia declared independance followed by a brutal ethnic conflict between Bosniak muslims and the Serbs where the whole villages were erased.
