Mulching eastern red cedar
Is there any use for nuisance eastern red cedar that is cleared from pastures, range, etc?
There's a lot of demand for mastication where I live but most landowners can't afford it. Wondering if there's any way to bring costs down.
Most of it is too small for dimensional lumber. I've seen logs that are approaching 12" DBH but the taper is wicked. I don't think there's anyone who would want it, but am I wrong?
How about mulch?
I'm assuming that removing/selling a product from a cedar landclearing operation wouldn't pay out... but wondering if anyone has experience.
