Put myself in a stupid and unnecessary situation, but here I am...

It all started with the 1996 Trek multi-track 750 and a goal to build it as a commuter/gravel style, everyday type of bike.

I had been on the search for components but could not find affordable parts in my area- SoCal, and quickly was summing up to an excessive price. At which point, I was considering selling it and buying something newer and ready to go, but I just didn't want a big box store bike. Still don't perse. The project is at a standstill and eventually I bought my girlfriend a bike and am now tired of riding the 750 as it currently sits when riding along her, or with friends.

Well... fast forward to about 2 months and I came across this (blue) 2011 trek 7.3 FX for a really good deal and my thought was to switch out the crank set/bottom bracket/pretty much everything onto the multitrack 750 and voila. It uses the same 68mm square taper. All 3 of these bikes do.

Fast forward again, and then I came across the (red) 2007 Trek 7.6fx with substantially better components imo.

They are both 17.5-in frames, the red has an older Shimano 105 group set, Bontrager carbon fork and 50/36 crank and 9 speed.

The blue is a 3x8 Deore in the back and Altus in the front, and standard aluminum frame/fork.

I obviously don't need both, definitely not all 3 lol. The plan may still be to build up the 750 vintage, but I have really liked how this red 7.6 rides and for my purpose of leisure rides with my lady, it probably suffices as is?

What are your thoughts? Should I strip the 750, keep it in storage, and eventually build it out? They are becoming more and more rare(23 in)... Should I transfer the components from the 7.6, maybe even the carbon fork( is that possible/reliable)?? Should I keep the 7.6 or 7.3?

I live in San Diego. Mostly will be using for leisure, city, light gravel/trails.... The reason I am so adamant about building the multitrack is that eventually, with the right bike, I will be doing longer, forest and desert rides when camping and in baja Mex.

Any and all in sight is welcome, I guess the roasts are welcome too.

What would Jesus do?

Which to keep? Should I build the Multitrack 750?
