PP Preeclampsia
I delivered my beautiful baby girl via c-section on September 26th! All went well!
Upon getting catheterized, they checked my protein levels in my urine and it was high. In recovery, my BP was 170/112. They started me on magnesium drip & I was on that for 24 hours. I was able to be discharged Sunday afternoon. Before I was discharged they checked my BP and had to stay a couple more hours due to it being 150s/100s. They gave me an additional dose of nifedipine and it came down 143/93 or something like that and I was good to go and sent home on nifedipine 60mg am & 30mg pm and an at home monitoring system.
I went to a nurse visit yesterday to discuss the anxiety I’ve bee having about checking my BPs because it has left me traumatized. My BP manually was 144/84 and my BP on the machine was 150/103. The nurse went and talked to the doctor and they reviewed my bps taken at my prenatal appointments and basically told me that if I see numbers like that on the machine to not panic because I don’t have any preeclampsia symptoms and they think I’ve had hypertension since before pregnancy, which I monitored my BP all throughout pregnancy and never before but I know at every doctors appt they would spike so potentially I’ve had hypertension for a while, just always thought it was white coat.
ANYWAYS, so now I’m questioning why they didn’t make a big deal out of my BP being 150s/100s yesterday at my appt all because I don’t have symptoms and said to keep monitoring my BP & symptoms. If my BP being 150s/100s on the day of being discharged stalled them to discharged me, why are they not concerned now? I’m trying to trust the OB but I’m questioning why now it’s just a monitoring thing and to just watch for pre-e symptoms…?
