I convinced myself I have PTSD, I don't but the obsession still doesn't stop.
It's been 2 weeks since I'm in this horrible ocd flare up.
I convinced myself I have PTSD. I had a trauma in the past but I worked immediately on it after it happened and processed it with a specialised psychologist back then.
I don't have any symptoms of PTSD currently and never had before and today again, my therapist confirmed (she's working with me for 4 years ) that I indeed don't have PTSD.
However, even though I know I don't have it I still can't let go of this idea at all.
If I stop doing compulsions at all, I get very very anxious. Now I'm obsessed on the idea, that what if I'm going to harm myself to prove that I'm traumatized?
I got a new horrible intrusive that is telling me I should harm myself. A lot of self harm thoughts starting to bother me.
As a compulsion, I hold knives towards my arms, neck, veins just to prove myself that I won't.
Now after finding out that I don't have PTSD it's a very hard think to accept since I convinced myself in the past two weeks by reading a lot, researching a lot.
My intrusion got even more violent and they told me to harm myself. I know they're intrusive thoughts because they panic me so much. Than I also read a lot about ocd to calm myself down.
This is hell. I'm going to a psychiatrist on Monday to get some serious help. Do meds help with obsessions?
