Reddit’s $6.5b drop this week got blamed on ChatGPT citing Reddit less
Looking for thoughts on this. Has anyone been investigating the impact of Reddit's partnership with OpenAI? Do you care, or is this just all hype?
Edit: adding more context here. Google dropped an update removing n=100 parameters (that’s what let people and data providers pull the “long tail” of search results). If ChatGPT starts citing Reddit less because of how Google controls access to data, then whole categories of user-generated content could lose visibility.
That’s the same type of visibility shift we deal with in SEO every time Google changes an algorithm.
