Vaal orb got a higher chance to do nothing now?

Is it just strange "luck" I have or did GGG really change the probabilities for vaal orbs? I hit my items and only every 5th or so really changes in any way (good or bad) - most of the time it just stays the same and I'm confused as I never had this happen so often before.
Anyone else experiencing this too?
