May 2026 Trip Itinerary Feedback

Hello! Wife and I are late 30's and planning our first trip to PR. Any feedback on the overall plan would be greatly appreciated. I'm torn on how many days to spend where, primarily in the El Yunque area. Thank you!

• Day 1 - Land at 7pm, direct flight. Staying either by airport or picking up rental car and driving to Ceiba to spend the night by ferry.
• Day 2 - Morning ferry to Vieques. Pick up Jeep. Night bio tour, this is peak no-moon for the entire week, hence the rush out to Vieques. Staying two nights at Malecon House.
• Day 3 - Explore Vieques
• Day 4 - ferry whenever back to mainland. Drive to Rainforest Inn. Really want to stay in the Rainforest, but hate that they have 3 night minimum. So waffling on that or just staying at resort near Luquillo.
• Day 5 - Explore El Yunque, stay at Rainforest Inn
• Day 6 - Relax/El Yunque/Southeast Exploration, stay at Rainforest Inn
• Day 7 - Drive back to San Juan, drop off car, stay at Palacio Provincial in Old Town
• Day 8 - Explore old town, Palacio Provinical
• Day 9 - Fly home

I'm torn on spending more time on Vieques vs. Rainforest Inn vs. if it's worth doing Culebra (on top of Vieques) or driving to Ponce. Or is there enough to see/do in Fajardo or SE part of the island. Any feedback/thoughts here would be greatly appreciated.
