Considering Moving to Chicago After College – Looking for Advice!

Hey everyone!

I’m seriously considering moving to Chicago after I graduate. For a bit of context, I’m Nigerian by background and I’ll be 23 at the time of the move. I enjoy a good balance between nightlife and peaceful, quiet moments. I love going out on weekends, maybe two or three times a week but I also cherish calming morning walks with my dog and peaceful environments/people watching with a good book and cafe’s aswell as yoga

I’ve completed an internship and have a little in savings as of right now (1300), and just got my first car but I definitely want to secure a solid job before making the move. Right now, I live in Missouri and feel a bit stuck, craving a more diverse and larger city environment. I’m really open to new opportunities, making friends, and embracing the vibrant diversity that Chicago offers.

I’m also looking to connect with the Black and Nigerian communities in Chicago. Any recommendations on neighborhoods that have a strong cultural presence would be amazing!

I’m aware that rent in Chicago can be pretty high, so any tips on affordable or rent-controlled apartments would be super helpful!

Lastly, I’m currently job hunting, and I’ve heard the job market can be challenging. Any advice on finding good job opportunities, networking, or navigating the job scene in Chicago would be greatly appreciated.
