Navratri is not about bhakti anymore
M23, born and brought up in Mumbai. Since childhood, I’ve loved our festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, etc. But for the last 2–3 years, I’ve been feeling really sad because everything now looks so fake. People have turned pooja-paath into a joke, garba organizers have made it feel like a nightclub, and many have started treating Navratri like Valentine’s Week. It has become more about flashy clothes and dancing rather than the true essence of the festival.
The main motive of Navratri is being forgotten. Enjoying festivals isn’t a bad thing, but people have reduced them only to fun and entertainment. Pandals are now playing Bhojpuri songs instead of devotional ones. Just two days ago, a guy in my pandal played a vulger bhojpuri song wo bhi 12am k baad (jabki permission 12 baje ki thi), and when I tried to stop him, everyone took it casually, no one supported me.
Politicians ka bhi bohot bada role hai ye sab me. No matter which party, they organize such events just for their PR. They too have a big role in turning dharm into a dhandha
I want to make it clear I'm not against our culture, I am not against Hinduism. In fact, I deeply respect and follow it. What I am against are those people who misuse our dharm for PR, reels, and shorts. There are certain rules and dignity that should be followed during such festivals, but unfortunately, many people have completely forgotten them.
And please koi ye mat bolna ki sirf hindu festivals pe he kyu gyan dete ho because I belong to this faith, and it hurts me to see its essence being lost.
PS: I used chatgpt to refine my sentences as this is my just second time writing here.
Thankyou
