First sinner infinitely stuck on phase one fight

I am playing silksong on Nintendo switch. I have run into an issue where I am trying to fight the first sinner boss, and it gets infinitely stuck on the phase one fight and will not go into the second phase. It makes it impossible to beat and I don’t know what to do. Is anyone else experiencing this?
