how do you not get hard in awkward situations?

i 21 yr male haven’t been to a doctor since 18 and recently had to find a doctor. i was referred to one by a family friend who works there. she was my nurse for said appointment & when testicular talk came up, i mentioned i had never been checked before. she was quite suprised and kind of insisted she should check me. i was very hesitant and blew it off at first esp bc the only 2 women who have seen my penis were my ex and current gf. nonetheless i ended up getting checked out, but i was super embarrassed bc i was hard when it was happening & not sure if this is normal but are they supposed to be like… in perfect bj position??? all together this made me super excited and had me overthinking the whole drive home. is this normal experience for everyone or am i just weird? thanks for listening :)
