Puppy showing viscous behavior
My puppy is six months old and she is a miniature Dachshund. A little over a month ago she found baby bunnies in our backyard, and she got a hold of one. we were able to get it from her after a while and tried to release it somewhere else in hopes it lived. Well another bunny made a burrow in our yard, and had babies which she also found. We tried for almost an hour to pry her mouth open to get this bunny and she wouldn’t budge, eventually she swallowed it. She did it again with another bunny, and when we tried to pry it from her she would viciously growl at us, a behavior we hadn’t seen before. Thankfully no more bunnies have come into our yard that we know of, but since then i’ve noticed her behavior becoming concerning. She likes to take my underwear from the hamper and chew it up, and when we try to take it from her she starts growling again and baring her teeth at us. She is so sweet otherwise, but when she gets in these moods she’s a completely different dog. Now to the newest problem, our cat. My cat is 10 years old and loves dogs, he doesn’t like cats though. When i got her i was excited for him to have another dog friend again but since the beginning she’s been incessant with him when playing. At first he was gentle with her even when her playfulness was too rough, but now he gets her back. anytime he comes into the room that she is in or he is walking on the ground. She’ll run after him and start playing, but her playing is rough and we’ve tried everything to keep her from doing this constantly because I’d like for them to be able to just lay together without her needing to attack even if it’s playful. Today they were playing and i was in another room, i heard her whimper which she always does when they play and he gets her, but then i heard vicious growling and barking and ran to them. He was trying to run from her but she had a grip on his neck and wouldn’t stop growling aggressively i was yelling and trying to pull her off but she wouldn’t budge i grabbed a cup of water to throw on her and eventually he was able to jump over a doggy fence we have in the doorway of a room. he hasn’t come out since and i’m worried about her behavior because up until this point, she was being playful with him. what can i do to ensure she stops messing with him constantly even if it’s just playful, and to make sure she doesn’t keep having violent episodes?
