Roommate Payments

My roommate and I have lived together for 16 months now.

Rent is due on the 1st of every month. Somehow he conveniently forgets almost every month.

Late fee is 10%.

Every month I say to myself....

Self, this is not your problem, let him pay it.

Then I check before I go to bed, and knock on his door each time to remind him. Mainly to avoid an argument with our complex.

It's not a monetary issue.

This month, my 1/2 was paid and I decided not to check and it's now two days late.

Which means there will be able additional $150 late fee added to next month's rent bill that we're going to have to argue about.

Additionally,

All the utilities are in my name. (Everything is documented in a spreadsheet, and he has online access to all the bills)

Every time I ask him for his 1/2, I don't get it for 2-3 weeks, as I have to keep reminding him. Then we have the same argument over splitting the utilities. (That's another post)
