Is the Gen 3 actually any worse?

I keep seeing people bitch about it, but I haven't been able to find any good reviews on YouTube and most of the complaints I've seen that aren't over the aesthetics (which is to say, one complaint that I read in the TFB blog post on it) have been things that the user fixed. How many people here have had any issues with it?

I'm looking to get a .300 BLK pistol put together at some point (would love for a rifle or SBR, but Maryland laws) and I want to know if a Gen 3 is really that bad compared to the Gen 2 or Gen 1 before I pull the trigger on buying one over the other, although I can't really find a Gen 1 or 2 .300 blk upper for sale anywhere so I guess it doesn't matter lol
