Is Infantry Lasgun Veteran now completely useless?

With the release of Plasma Gunners, ranged elites now have their own armoured variant, the Infantry Lasgun is straight up unusable. As a weapon expected to quickly take down shooters using weak spots, it's straight up impossible to kill plasma gunners due to their carapace weak spots. It doesn't help that these enemies are very dangerous, and a volley of plasma fire from a group of them could instantly kill you.

If you ever want to play Darktide for the Guardsman experience, just pick the Infantry Lasgun on Damnation with the Outgunned variant. You'll then realize why they need a hundred of them to fight their competent, well-equipped enemies.

They should have made their helmets flak and their body carapace, much like Scab Ragers, then at least then you could shoot their heads and actually kill them. For now, I'll have to use the Helbore Lasgun since it's the only lasgun that can deal with armour.
