The Eye really surprised me

Check out this movie! I don't want to give too much away but one of the lines in the movie is seeing ghosts is "the most beautiful thing." It's about how being cursed with spirit mediumship is really a blessing that can help people. This is a radically different take than the vast majority of possession movies where it's more about how can we get rid of the possessing ghost as quickly as possible. I understand Hong Kong back then is unlike mainland China but for a Chinese movie I was expecting it to be way more Conservative and toe the line more about their discrimination against superstition. This movie is not at all like that. If you're interested in a possession movie that is friendlier to ghosts definitely check this out. I think it might also touch on possession in Thailand but I'm not sure (the characters travel to Thailand at the end of the movie).

I'm currently waiting on The Eye 2 to arrive at my library. I heard it's a decent sequel. If you're in Montreal, check out the horror movie selection at the library. It's pretty impressive. They had Maribito for example.
