Quick Question on dry fire with a P365 XMacro Comp

I just got my Sig P365 XMacro Comp a few days ago. I’ve been trying to start dry firing with it and it seems to be fairly complicated to do so. First thing I notified was that with an empty mag in the gun, the slide is locked back and the slide release seems to be locked also. Without the mag, I can’t pull the trigger but I can freely rack the slide. So in order for me to dry fire repeatedly, I have to pull the trigger with the mag, remove the mag, rack the slide, then reinsert the mag. Is this really the only way to dry fire in this way or am I an idiot?
