I think it’s essential to clarify a point of confusion I see often in the community regarding Smart Contracts. We have the ecosystem-driven Kasplex L2 solution, but core developers like Michael Sutton have talked about the strategic goal of Verifiable Programs (vProgs) for Layer 1.

**What’s the precise technical difference, and why is this dual path necessary for Kaspa?**

Think of Kasplex L2 as our pragmatic power move for right now. It utilizes a rollup to achieve EVM compatibility. This is fantastic because it gets DeFi and critical interoperability onto our chain immediately. We leverage Kaspa’s ironclad L1 security for sequencing while we build out the native future.

\* In short: Kasplex is fast, functional, and brings liquidity today.

Verifiable Programs (vProgs) is the ultimate architectural goal. This is the native, Layer 1-solution being integrated directly into the Kaspa core. It’s not about emulating EVM code; it’s about deploying a VM that enables cryptographically verifiable execution optimized specifically for the BlockDAG.

This is the crucial technical distinction: When you run a Smart Contract application on Kasplex (L2), it’s like running a Windows app on a Mac emulator. It works quickly, but you aren't harnessing the full, native power of the operating system.

Running an application using vProgs (L1) will be like running native software. It will be perfectly tuned to the ultra-high block rate (10BPS) and the parallel structure of the BlockDAG. The "Verifiable" aspect ensures maximum efficiency and security that fundamentally surpasses any Layer 2 solution, because it requires zero bridging or rollup process overhead.

The message is clear: Kaspa is building for the next century. The native vProgs (L1) will deliver the ultimate, most secure, and most efficient form of programmable money, running natively on the fastest PoW chain. Both are necessary steps toward dominance.
