Anyone else retrying fights multiple times on Tactician?

Most of the posters and commenters I'm seeing here are saying Tactician is easy. I just finished Chapter 1.

I went to Dorter without grinding and I was getting one shot or two shot. It seems like if I get hit by a black mage, that character is probably going to die.

I ended up grinding out Auto Potion for my party to avoid 2 shots.

The next fight I struggled with was Wiegraf. I tried killing all the enemies in this encounter but Wiegraf demolished everyone no matter what. I ended up bringing my Black Mage with a Thunder Rod and Thundaga which put him into critical and ended the fight.

The fight with Argath was pretty brutal too. If anything got hit by a Black Mage they were either dead or killed by the next attack. I ended up being able to lure Argath one way and assassinate him, but I don't see how I would be able to kill all the enemies without a couple of Black Mages on my team.

Anyone else being forced to assassinate these guys to win? Are people just abusing Black Mages in Chapter 1? I guess Monk can hit pretty hard at a distance too, but are people having any luck using other jobs?
