Player Cards (Rating & Stats)
Hello, I hope that everyone's doing well.
I'd like to introduce to you a small concept I thought about the other day, which is player cards that showcase a player's rating, position/s, and stats, as well as detailed "inside" stats that will show you more about a player than their rank ever will.
This was heavily inspired by FIFA's player cards as most of you can tell, but this focuses on stats and things relevant to Rematch.
For example, there isn't a specific "Pace" stat since all Rematch players have the same moving speed.
However, you'll notice a "Presence" stat which can be further explained by what it consists of in the "inside" stats.
As you know, the concept of teams and tournaments has already emerged in the community with dedicated discord servers already existing to host such events.
I believe that this card system will greatly help teams find players tailored to their needs and knowing mostly what to expect from said players, as well as help players find teams without being judged by their current season rank.
A performance-based rating that focuses purely on a player's performance in a season, regardless of wins & losses, but rather what he does in a game, would better display that player to teams and others without them being judged by their rank which doesn't reflect their specific gameplay.
I was Elite last season and got placed into Diamond in this one. My rank changed but my gameplay hasn't, so it makes no sense to be judged by rank, especially since teams & tournaments do not increase or decrease it.
Implementation:
With that point being made, how will this system be implemented?
I was thinking that the game could roughly judge these stats by a player's gameplay during matches, how consistently they do something over and over again in different games, how often they accurately finish in front of the net, from distance, what input they used to score, how often they accurately nail a long or short pass, get an assist, if they used the wall in any way, their positioning when defending, and tackling, how often they make mistakes in net, etc..
I feel like at this stage it will be a bit difficult to implement, but not impossible. The game already keeps track of most of our general stats, such as how many goals, passes, assists, dribbles, interceptions, and saves we got, even how much distance we've covered.
There are even Rematch trackers (RematchTracker & U.GG) that show said stats, including player playstyles that represent you (Playmaker, Striker, MVP, Presence, Goalie, Defender), in fact, I've gotten the Radar/Spider/Web chart I've used in the "inside" stats section from U.GG's Rematch tracker.
I'm thinking for starters this whole card system could be implemented in the tracker first, and slowly it can make its way into the actual game.
Please let me know what you think.
(For the "inside" stats, I'll explain what each one means in full detail if this concept gains interest.)
