Are Curses a bad playstyle?

Discussion

I recently brewed a [[Go-Shintai of Life's Origin]] deck that focuses on using Curse cards and Auras that negatively impact my opponents' creatures. https://moxfield.com/decks/Gdxa0bJxZk-9iFs-C1VWPg I've gone on Spelltable to test the deck twice and, even though I expected some amount of disdain from players when I put a curse on them or stuck their commander under something like [[Lignify]], the deck has been the target of more hate than I would have thought. The first game was only a little worse than I expected, but when I went to test the deck in a different lobby, a guy got mad at me after hearing the deck's theme and started accusing me of using a higher bracket control deck in a lobby I listed as bracket 2. The deck has no combos that I am aware of, only one card that can search my deck for something other than a land, and I'm pretty sure that a lot of preconstructed commander decks stand a fair shot at beating it. Are Curses that big of a problem? I admit that the deck does have some annoying cards that can slow the game down and and some decks just can't deal with cards like [[Darksteel Mutation]], but I feel like a deck that starts pretty slow should be allowed to disrupt the other players' plans.
