Was blunt with my wife about intimacy and it has changed everything

I'm 44 and my wife is 42 and we have had long-standing issues with sex that have gotten worse over the years. My wife loves me but when it comes to sex and intimacy, she is just kinda a two position gal who wants the whole thing done in 5 min. or less. She was not like this at the beginning. A few days ago, we were talking about something else and she made a comment about how "hot" I looked in a new jacket I was wearing. I didn't really say anything and she asked what was wrong. In response, I told her that being told you are "hot" or "handsome" means jack shit if you don't feel desired. In a moment of temporary insanity, I also admitted that I didn't see our marriage lasting unless sex and intimacy changed. She was kind of stunned, said nothing, and we went to bed.

Since then, shit has been 100% better. Sex is great again and we are suddenly closer and communicating. My wife also told me that my bringing up the big "D" word kinda changed everything for her because she knew I was being serious and she didn't realize how much the lack of intimacy was making me question everything. For those who are struggling with this issue (wife or husband), be as blunt as possible and put all your cards on table. It just might work.

"TL;DR" Being blunt about sex and intimacy changed everything for the better.
