Rant/Rave

I feel like garbage.

We have roaches in our kitchen (NYC, baybee) and yesterday I spent the entire day waging roach warfare. Scrubbing behind every appliance, moving the stove and refrigerator, using degreaser, doing every single piece of laundry in the house- literally scrubbing floors with disinfectant.

My 2 yo was watching TV for some of it, because I didn’t want him wandering in and getting near the chemicals. I asked him if he wanted to eat multiple times and he said no. I asked him if he wanted a pouch, eggs, yogurt-all of his safe foods. He said no. He wanted ice cream and chicken nuggets, I said no, and then offered his faves again. He said no, got his bottle of milk out of the fridge, and drank that. Later he went and ate two bananas out of the fruit bowl and asked for a pouch, which he got. He also asked for a pouch at the grocery store later, which he got. I asked him over and over if he wanted something to eat and he kept saying no. I honestly forgot about lunch. He ate a few bites of the cookies we made together later. He wasn’t crying, he wasn’t asking for food. I didn’t eat breakfast or lunch because I was on autopilot and so focused on the idea that bugs were in the house and needing to get them OUT.

I don’t know what to do about this or what this is. I have had similar incidents where it got late and I realized I needed to make dinner or that we skipped a meal because I got stuck on a task and just never ate or made anything. It’s like tunnel vision. I feel horrible. He’s ok this time (and was in minimal distress if any from what I can tell) but I can’t do this again.
