Grade Dispute Rant
Just got done with a meeting regarding a grade dispute from this summer.
back story: I was given a 0 for not showing my ID during an online final exam. But online students aren't required to have a school ID and I had a paper ID at the time that did not have a photo ID on it. I spoke about this to the professor after she put a 0 in and then after she said my grade will remain a 0 because I "should've replied to her email sooner". When I filed for a dispute she went back to get previous statement about the ID.
Meeting: I thought I made some good points. He said that the professor told him that there was a packet online that gave all the information regarding the final exam. But this packet wasnt required so I never opened it. I did the practice exam and then the final exam. I told him exactly what I saw on the syllabus, the due date and that it said final exam. I knew nothing of a required ID. All of my previous classes, I have taken test on lockdown browser, and because online students aren't required to have an ID its been fine. Until now.
Conclusion: the vice Provost for math basically said, he would read the syllabus and if there is any small detail about an ID required that he wont be able to give me my final grade, a 96.
I know I read that syllabus multiple times. I never saw anything on there. But now, I bet there is one, tiny, small print, mention of an ID in that syllabus. Could this have not been in bold print right next to the due date and assignment. Not almost hidden among all of the other 20 rules and expectations. Im just so frustrated.
